THE NORTHERN TRUST Player Transportation Committee volunteers provide transportation to players, their family members, TOUR staff and VIP guests before, during and after the tournament.


See below some of our volunteers having a blast during the tournament a few years ago, when we were at Bethpage Black.

Volunteers also assist with the car inventory and control the distribution of official tournament vehicles. The committee also assists in the return of vehicles after the tournament. Drivers must be at least 25 years old and provide a valid driver’s license. This Committee sometimes requires a lot of downtime due to the players' unpredictable schedule so it is recommended that you bring a book to pass time. If downtime allows, you may even have the chance to check out play in-person as we are usually located near the driving range or one of the holes.

You get to drive some nice cars and get to meet some really nice people.

We will soon start posting information for 2022. Volunteer registration for 2021 is closed now, but stay tuned for 2022 info. If you don't volunteer in 2021, come visit as a spectator at Liberty National Golf Course.


Just like in 2019, for 2021 at Liberty National, we are planning to be in the 'PIT'. We will have a large trailer very close to the Media Center and - most importantly - to Player Parking. We also have Transportation Volunteer Parking just outside of the Service Entrance to the PIT in close walking proximity to our office.

We will be driving players and family members this year and therefore all Player Transportation volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated.  Special communication will happen through your Chairman Andreas and the tournament office.


THE NORTHERN TRUST Volunteer Uniform

All volunteers are required to wear THE NORTHERN TRUST official volunteer uniform while on duty. The official volunteer uniform for 2021 consists of a polo shirt (part of your volunteer package) and khaki bottoms (shorts and golf skorts are acceptable). Please do not wear the official uniform when off duty.

    Our training will be held in the Transportation Trailer on Saturday, 8/3/2019 from 11AM to 12NOON. Our trailer is in the PIT, right below the clubhouse. There will be sufficient parking in the PIT on training day.

    Airport runs and car retrieval will guide our schedule. Any available volunteer is welcome to join us and get finished fast.

    Volunteers can exchange their uniform in the Volunteer Center on 8/19 and throughout tournament week.

    Volunteer Parking will be located in Lot 9. Address for Lot 9 is at the Garden State Plaza Mall (Lord & Taylor parking lots), 1 Garden State Plaza, Paramus, NJ 07652. Allow ample time to arrive, since there is a shuttle ride involved from the parking lot to the course. Shuttles will run Monday, 8/20 to Sunday, 8/26. Shuttle times are as follows:

  • 8/2/2018: Volunteer Party
    This year, the volunteer appreciation party will be held at Rigdewood Country Club, Anchor Club at the 17th green. Follow the signs, once you get to the course. The party starts on Sunday 8/19 at 2pm and will end at 4:30pm. All volunteers are invited. Enjoy food, drinks, raffle prizes, & more! No alcohol please, if you are working the 2nd shift on Sunday.
    Please park at Bergen Community College and walk through the Main Entrance to Hole 17. Bring your credentials.


  • 8/1/2018: Training
    Player Transportation Committee training will be at 12:00pm on Saturday, 8/18/2018, at the Tennis Hut at Ridgewood Country Club. Player Transportation volunteers, check your email for directions.

    If you are registered for Player Transportation and have not yet sent your filled-out and signed MVR form to Ray, please do so by 6/30/2018. We have to hand those over to tournament staff and their insurance company to get you cleared.
